To Next Poet

Tea Shop Girl

Her skin is the shade
of bread rolls on the counter,
softgoldenwhite
still fine in the flare
of florescent lights.

Her hair swirls black
about her ears,
rich as the coffee
steaming in pots
behind her.

And when she walks past,
her wake teases me
with scents of cakes,
sweet milk
and chocolates.
