Form and formalism

Hi there list members
We've been talking about the use of form in poetry over in our forum
messaging board - I'm wondering if anyone on the list has particular
views about the use of form - Do any of you have examples of
contemporary poets who use form well and effectively - I would argue
that many poets merely use it as a buffer against not having
something to say - the content might be weak, but heh, they're
excellent technicians! I'm tired of reading technically brilliant but
emotionally hollow sonnets, villanelles etc etc etc
What do you think?
