2nd Annual International People's Haiku and Senryu Contest



Ten poems will be selected.  All entries must be previously 
unpublished.
$300 in cash to winners. Winning poets featured with their poems in
People's Poetry Letter.  National and international recognition.  All
haiku or senryu must include references to people, human nature 
or the human condition.  Traditional and experimental poems 
welcome.  Blind judging. Do not include name on page with poem. 
Each poem must appear on separate page or card. First lines of 
poems will be registered as titles.
Attach list of first lines for poems entered, and include name, 
address, city, province/state, country, tel., fax and/or email 
address on same page. This will serve as registration entry form. 
Entrants who send a minimum of 3 poems receive a free annual 
subscription (3 issues) to People's Poetry Letter. Judges for this 
contest are internationally renowned haiku poets and editors Andre 
Duhaime and Francine Porad. 
Deadline: March 21, 1999.  $5 for each poem entry.  No limit on 
number of entries.

5th Annual
People's Political Poem Winter Contest

For political poems written in the people's poetry tradition. We are
looking for poetry that exhibit a passionate humanity, sensitivity to 
the human condition, love and moral conviction.

Five poems selected in the Winter Contest. $150 in cash and book 
prizes to winners. Winning poems will be featured in People's 
Poetry Letter. All entrants receive a year's subscription (3 issues) 
to People's Poetry Letter. Up to two previously unpublished poems 
of any length may be entered. Blind judging. Include a brief 
biography. Entry fee: a minimum donation of $15 to People's 
Poetry to help support its programs, publication and awards for 
poets. Deadline: March 21, 1999.
