              Mark,
Funny you should mention McCabe. I am an absolute devotee of his
work. Saw "The Butcher Boy" when it came out over here (the States)a while
ago and thought it adhered to the book quite well, only complaint I had was
using Stephen Rea as the adult Francie, a bit cheesy, I thought, even though
I like Rea.

I also had a chance (about two months ago) to meet
McCabe when he was in Chicago to promote "Breakfast on Pluto". He read for
an hour or so, from "Carn", "Butcher Boy", and "Breakfast on Pluto", and he
was a joy to listen to. I also recommend his book, "The Dead School".

Not only have I read Breakfast on Pluto but I have a
review of it posted on Local Ireland Online Lit site, if anyone is interested.

                                                            Best,
