to chuck.
if we are brought to both states, despair and joy, at once by poetry are we
brought anywhere at all? this, in effect asks the question; are people able
to experience two disparate emotions at once, and if we are then is it
possible that they end up cancelling each other out?
i have always found the best poetry to be that which has a direction of
emotion and content, that strives toward a goal and doesn't try to hit all
the bases at once.
