Well, from an Irish-Canadian point of view,we have huge Saint. Paddys' Day
celebrations, over the course of which everyone in the nation acts in a
stereotypical Irish manner (eg. excessive beer consumption, fighting, etc.)
Aside from that, a lot of the early settlers of Alberta and BC were of
Irish descent, bringing Irish place names all throughout the nation. Irish
Catholics were really the mainstay of the Calgary Catholic School System
until newer waves of Polish and Spanish settlers arrived. The popularity of
Irish bars in Calgary such as James Joyces' and Ceili's help to illustrate
the endurance of Irish culture over here, even though it may be somewhat
exaggerated.
Hope this helps,
-Sean
