Open Eire Market
by Liam Ronan

Kieran Looney
croaked=20
last spring;
and,=20
with himself
never
gospel greedy
in life,
the widow, Rosheen,
quietly keened=20
and avoided
hypocrisy
by planting him
deep=20
in the soil=20
above the boreen;=20
where,
she swears
to this day
that corpse=20
produces
a mighty gooseberry
on the bush;
great green gobs
which she=20
labels
then sells
as organic
from a market stall
beside=20
the beef vendor =20
first Friday
of every month.
