Dublin Writers Workshop

Frequently Asked Questions

So how do I go about joining the Dublin Writers Workshop?

The DWW takes place on the first three Mondays of every month in the upstairs lounge of Bowes Public House, Fleet Street, Dublin 2 (opposite the Irish Times offices). It starts at 8.30pm and usually finishes around 11pm. All are welcome.

To participate you can bring work to read [poetry or prose] - please bring photocopies - or you can just give feedback on the work of other participants.  It costs £1 for the waged and 50p for the unwaged.

How to I submit work to Electric Acorn?

You can email up to 5 poems or 2 short stories for consideration by the editors to:

submissions@dublinwriters.org

There is no limit to subject matter although we not publish anything of a pornographic or racist nature.

What About your privacy policy on this site?

You can read all about that at our privacy policy page, here.

If I'm lucky enough to get published in Electric Acorn, does that mean that  the work is still unpublished as far as "real" publications and competitions are concerned?

Work submitted to Electric Acorn should be unpublished. Please note that "virtual" publication in Electric Acorn is the same as being published in a "real" magazine or journal. We regret that we are not in a position to pay contributors at present.

Electric Acorn appears on a quarterly basis

How do I join the DWW mailing list?

By going to our contacts page and submitting your email address. You'll then receive our updates. This is the update mailing list. We also run a discussion mailing list called "Acorn Live" you can find out more about that here.

Who Do I contact about the design, coding and spidering of this site?

Mark, at: webmaster@dublinwriters.org

How do I contact the editor?

That's Nessa at: info@dublinwriters.org

I am a university student. Where can I find out about courses on Modern Irish Literature?

Apart from the Universties, Contacting the Irish Writers Centre would be a good move to find out about shorter courses with a contemporary focus.
